The Itelco T613S is a full solid state 1kW transmitter for television broadcasting, with separate amplification of vision and sound carriers, operating on the whole UHF band, from 470 to 860 MHz.
The transmitter is designed to fully comply with the requirements for the safety of personnel as specified in IEC 215 rules. The rack-frame is made in stainless steel and is completely welded in order to obtain the best mechanical and electrical characteristics. Each unit inside the rack is designed in order to be easily removed and checked.
This transmitter can also be supplied in theT613S DD version that includes a dual exciter system controlled by microprocessor change over unit, model G020.
The exciter is used in the mod. T611S arranged in two 4HE/19" mainframes and is composed of several plug-ins for easy servicing and simplified up-dating.
The local oscillator is synthesized and includes the frequency offset circuit; both channel frequency and frequency offset can be adjusted in steps of 25 Hz. All routine and on air adjustment of the exciter are screwdriver adjustable from the front panel. An extender board plus coaxial cable with SMB connectors is self-contained in the exciter for servicing.

The vision amplifier is composed of four solid state amplifier units V652 and one power couplers H613; the nominal RF output power of each V652 is higher than 300Wps and the RF gain is higher than 26dB.
Each amplifier unit V652 has a built-in switch mode power supply unit and is self protected against overheating, overcurrent, overvoltage, overdrive and high reflected power. A set of LEDs on the front panel shows the status of the unit and a set of test points make possible the reading of the most important parameters.
The sound amplifier is one solid state amplifier unit W612; the typical RF gain of this unit is higher than 18dB. The amplifier unit W612 has built-in to its proper switch mode power supply unit and is self protected against overheating, overcurrent, overvoltage, overdrive and high reflected power. A set of led on the front panel shows the status of the unit and a set of test points make possible the reading of the most important parameters.
The V/S combiner is composed by two quadrature coupler and two double cavity band pass filters tuned around the sound carriers. The combiner is suitable for dual sound operations and is tunable on whole the UHF band.
The V/S combiner is followed by a notch filter for suppression of the intermodulation products outside the band and by a harmonic filter for the suppression of harmonic products.
The mains distribution unit A553 provides the power supply voltages to the five power amplifiers, to the exciter and to the remote interface unit. This unit contains the mains breaker, five output breakers and the control board.
The cooling is done only by air; each module has its own blower and the rack is provided with a double central fan for air circulation, this assures air circulation in case of failure of one fan. The air requirement of this transmitter is approx 50,000 Ft3/hr (1400 m3/hr).
